GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Golf ball-sized hail and widespread flash flooding hit the Grand Rapids area Tuesday night, damaging homes and vehicles. A flood watch in Kent County remains in effect until 11 a.m.
A flash flood warning is issued when a flash flood is either imminent or already occurring. In flood-prone areas, it’s crucial to move immediately to higher ground. A flash flood is a sudden and violent inundation that can develop within minutes to hours, and it can even happen in areas not currently experiencing rainfall.
A threat of heavy rain, flash flooding and damaging southerly winds will last through Saturday.
Widespread storms rolled through North Texas late Wednesday causing localized flooding across parts of the region. Isolated showers and a few thunderstorms are forecast Thursday, though rainfall coverage is expected to be lower than Wednesday.
