New Jersey Gov. Mikie Sherrill signed an executive order on Wednesday intended to protect residents from potential misconduct by federal agents.

She signed a three-part executive order in Trenton that she says is necessary to keep President Trump from turning law enforcement agencies into militia.

Gov. Mikie Sherrill declared a state of emergency in anticipation of a significant winter storm forecast to hit New Jersey this weekend. The governor said the state needs to prepare for dangerous winter weather conditions and as such a commercial vehicle travel restriction is being put in place as a safety precaution.
