The Olathe Police Department is investigating after a student protest on Friday turned into a physical disturbance.

Student organizer Ryan Clifton said the walkout was planned in solidarity with local families impacted by immigration enforcement actions.

Activists with a grassroots organization were aboard the USS Midway, protesting and demanding accountability for the U.S. military on Sunday.

Hundreds of Lawrence community members lined Massachusetts Street on Friday afternoon for an “ICE Out” protest led by Haskell Indian Nations University students. Many Haskell students said they showed up to protest after hearing fellow students had an encounter with immigration agents.

Students at a South Western high school say the administration responded badly to an ICE protest, but district says it acted to keep students safe.

Organizers said that over 1,000 events had been confirmed for late March.
