In 1971, 17-year-old Juliane Koepcke became the sole survivor of a tragic plane crash over the Peruvian Amazon. Falling nearly 10,000 feet while still strapped to her seat, she miraculously survived the impact — but her ordeal had just begun. With a broken collarbone, deep cuts, and maggot-filled wounds, Juliane spent 11 days alone in the dense rainforest. Using lessons from her biologist parents, she followed rivers for direction, drank rainwater, and treated her wounds with makeshift methods.
