When you talk about glazing, pinholing can refer to two different things. It can be a glaze defect after the final firing where trapped gasses form bubbles in the glaze and never fully smooth out or pop before cooling, or in this case in the glaze application step, as a glaze dries, small pock marks and holes form in the drying glaze.
