Well would you look at that! Coyote and Roadrunner are indeed real animals (though no blue birds seen around here as of yet). However, our Saturday morning cartoons may have led to some false impressions. While coyotes can and will hunt roadrunners, they certainly are not outpaced by them. Roadrunners around here can travel at speeds averaging 23mph with a recorded high speed of 26mph; however, the coyote can run upwards of 40 mph when needed. But that doesn't mean the roadrunner is a bird to be
